During this week, our team had the opportunity to engage in discussion over a number of meetings. There were many things on the agenda – from picking a new team name and a reasonable team schedule, to discussing what our goals and purpose should be, and the common approach we should follow.
In addition to those team meetings, I went on to seek new knowledge on team organisation and leadership, and finally began familiarising myself with Unreal Engine 4. With the latter, I will be able to speak the same language as our team’s resident UE experts, Matt and Paul.

In the days leading up to the introductory webinar and our first meeting, I read The Wisdom of Teams by Katzenbach and Smith (2015), and wrote down my notes in a separate post. Among my key takeways was the importance of a common purpose and performance goals in creating a high performing team, even in the absence of dedicated team-building efforts. As team leader, I felt that the model of a high-performing team was worth aspiring to, and decided to share my thoughts with the team.

The upcoming module will focus on working in teams – and since teams consist of individuals, I took some personality tests to try and quantify the nebulous thing that is my personality. As we form teams, it will be interesting to compare and contrast the results of each member, and see how well we complement each other on paper.
