Notes from week 5 (Art Direction)

The challenge of Week 5 has been to create an Art Direction Document to summarise key decisions about my upcoming prototype’s visuals. As with previous weeks, I spent around half of my time studying materials, and the other half on the challenge activity. As a result, I am spending a minimal amount of time on documenting my reflections in the blog.

Grey box prototyping

The following post is a summary of my work during Week 3 or the Game Development module, focusing on Programming. The goal of the weekly challenge was to create a “Grey Box” prototype of my game as defined in my proposal from the previous week. Continued ideation and game design

Note: the following is a collection of brief notes, screenshots and reflections from Week 2 of the Game Development module, titled Game Design. Game Development – Orientation and Idea Generation

It has been a nice few weeks over the holiday period. The break inbetween modules allowed me to move away from the keyboard and reconnect with family. My experiences and thoughts, formed through twelve weeks of reflective practice, had time to sink in and incubate in my brain. Not keen on completely falling out of practice, I’ve spent time playing games and reading about game design and prototyping (as promised).

Now, an exciting new module has been made available. Aptly titled ‘Game Development’, it will focus our group once again – this time allowing us much more time to dive deeper into the theory and practice of game development.
